SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year the Prattville Rotary Club sponsors multiple scholarships for senior high school students in the Autauga County/Prattville area. These scholarships are available to any senior high school student in a public or private school or homeschooled that is recommended by their school counselor and completes the application process.
Scholarships will be awarded in the name of
Horace Powell and Frank Lamar, who are both founding members of the Prattville Rotary Club.
Two scholarships of
$1,500 each and
two scholarships of
$500 each
are awarded.
Criteria for application may vary slightly each year based on the guidelines set forth by the Board of Directors. Students will normally be asked to write an essay on a topic provided in advance. Essays are scored by a panel of Rotary club judges with the top essays being notified of advancement.
Notification of scholarship application procedures and topics are forwarded to school counselors in February of each year. The scholarship applications are due May 1 and will be awarded at the
River Region Rodeo. Students interested in this scholarship should meet with their school counselor for more information. The selected seniors present their papers at a normal rotary club meeting and are awarded their scholarships at the River Region Rodeo.
